What is Iridology?

 Iridology is an alternative medicine science analyzing the iris and pupil of the eye, its pigmentation and markings, which correspond to specific reflexive points of the body- enabling the practitioner to determine historical/inherited strengths and weaknesses. During the developmental stage in utero, every organ and tissue of the body is connected via the brain and nervous system creating a form of communication between the iris and body via the optic nerve and spinal cord. This is much like the scientifically proven phenomenon of the gallbladder to shoulder reflex. When the gallbladder is inflamed or has pathological issues, there is a presentation of pain in the shoulder because they share the same nerve root/pathway in utero. An Iridologist, based on the eye’s presentation, can then suggest an educational program which may include lifestyle changes, herbal supplements and other means of therapy to help reduce inflammation and body tension to help restore balance in the body and improve overall general health.
